...how you doin'?

Welcome to The Death Stars, the planning site for a crazy little Star Wars group costume project premiering at Dragon*Con 2008 Basically it's going to be like Michael Jackson's Thriller-meets-Star Wars. We've all had some characters we've loved die in the movies and books and such, right? And we all love zombies! So why not put the two together! WE SHALL BRING ABOUT THE APOCALYPSE. OUR DECOMPOSING BODIES SHALL BLOCK OUT THE TWIN SUNS.

version 1.0: This hot, hot piece of art is by Mr. Jeff Carlisle. It's called Vader's Dream and the first time I saw it, my draw dropped from it's awesomeness and I fell in love with it. I thought it was a fitting piece to put on this layout -- silly Anakin. :P

The Death Stars site is owned and maintained by Tenel Ka, who was also the crazy mind behind the project, along with another past crazy costume project, Mission to Myrkr. The costume idea was born on June 11, 2007.

... the rundown!

The basic idea is this: your favorite Star Wars characters who have passed on have come back! Except they're here to eat your brains. D: We've had a lot of our favorite characters pass on in the movies and books, so why not honor them in a creepy and itchy-tasty way like this? And before you cry out that we're horrible/not real fans of the Saga and the GFFA, etc. for doing this idea -- we're huge fans of everything Star Wars. We just also have a twisted sense of humor. ;D

So we're each taking a character, experimenting with them and turning them into zombies. If you have a favorite character who has died and you're gonna be at D*C 2008, you should join up too! No matter what part of the SW fandom they're from -- the movies, the video games, the books, whatever!

The best part about these costumes is that they don't have to be spot on perfect, especially since they're supposed to be on decomposing bodies (None of this, "YOU'RE COSTUME IS ONLY 46% ACCURATE, YOU AREN'T A TRUE FAN~!" XD). Another fun thing, obviously, is going to be the zombie makeup. And also roaming the halls of the hotels at D*C, threatening to eat peoples brains and playing Thriller really loud -- if someone could mashup the Star Wars Main Theme & Thriller, I would love you forever and we would spare your brains. <3

Clicking on their name will bring up a pop-up window, which tells you about the character's death, gives you a picture of the character (if there is one) and the person who will be portraying them -- along with some information about the player (email, aim, name on Kriff This!, websites, etc.). :D

... how to join

Here's the step-by-step process on how to join the The Death Stars! Just follow them and you'll be well on your way to chowing on some brains!

1.) Send an e-mail to this address (and make sure to take out the DELETETHIS XD) with the subject line The Death Stars. In this email just let me know what character you would like to portray in the group and how sure you are that you'll be able to make it to D*C '08.

2.) I'll e-mail you back to get the info for your profile (and the details about all that will be in the e-mail I send back). Then you just send back all the information and I will put your profile up online!

3.) You MUST join the message board, Kriff This! There is a special forum set aside just for all of us to plan this costume group in. Costume threads, makeup threads and everything are in that forum, also discussions on anything else pertaining to the group. So once you join up there, I will validate your account and then all the discussions can begin!

4.) That's it! :D

[ WHY DRAGON*CON 2008? ]
Well, we figure since it's over a year away, it'll give more people time to save and make plans to get to Atlanta. Also, it's convention where pretty much anything goes -- and we didn't think this would be a very good idea to bring to a family convention like the next Celebration. Heeehehe~

[ THERE'S A CHARACTER YOU GUYS ARE MISSING FROM YOUR AVAILABLE LIST! CAN I STILL BE THEM? ]
Of course! There's lots of characters missing from that list~ >_< If you know of a character you would like to be that we've left off (and you know they've actually died in some sort of Star Wars media XD), let me know! You won't be shunned away from the group, I promise!

[ WHY IS MACE A DOLL? D: ]
Mace isn't a doll! *gasp* ;D If you would actually like to portray Mace Windu, PLEASE EMAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW! We would love to have you in the group! We just have the doll on here as a placeholder because we don't have anyone who has joined as Mace yet. He will fill in if we don't get one, since he goes on fun adventures anyways. Hehe~
